Any type of hair will work with this pottery. Because dog and cat hair is thinner and shorter then horse hair the lines will be thinner and shorter on the vessel.
I believe the true beauty of my vessels is that it is your
pet's hair that's "painting" the vessel. While it won't be as bold as the
horse hair it will be your pet's hair making the vessel unique.
Here are some samples of vessels I've made with cat and dog hair. Keep in mind that unlike horses different breeds of dog have different hair so the lines will be different. If possible send some brushed out hair and a clipping from where their hair is the longest and thickest.
Here are two like vessels to compare. The one on the left is made with dog hair (Lhasa Apso) and the one on the right with horse hair.
Here's a vessel with cat hair. Because cat hair is both thin and short the lines are much different then the horse hair pottery. While you can see individual lines they are not as bold. Also since they are so short the don't wrap around the bottom of the vessel like the longer horse hair and some longer dog hair. With the Cat vessels I make the opening in the vessel smaller so there is more surface area for the hair to fall on.
Here's a vessel with German Shepard hair. With Dog and cat vessels I make the opening in the vessel smaller so there is more surface area for the hair to fall on. This seed bowl is about 3 inches tall and 6 inches wide (60.00 plus shipping).
Ornaments are about 5 inches long and 4 inches high. These are heavier and need to be hung on a sturdy branch. You can have a name or short message carved on the back.
These ornaments are 20.00 each (plus shipping) if you just get the ornaments. If you order a vessel the ornaments are only 15.00 each (shipping is covered with the vessel's shipping)
I can do different breeds of dogs. Let me know which breed you have in mind and I'll let you know if I can find a silhouette. Below are a Sheltie and Aussie. Click on ornaments below for sharper details
